Once again this year, the Bucovina Legate undertook an oenogastronomic documentation “expedition” to Italy. After previous visits to Puglia, Valpolicella and Valdobbiadene, the third foray targeted Tuscany, Maremma and Marche. Between October 10-19, 2025, the 14 participants covered no less than 1500 km. It was a real tour de force, richly rewarded by what we could taste and admire: Some highlights of our visit:
1. Visiting wineries with wine tasting:
- Fattoria di Magliano (gourmet dinner and super Tuscan tasting in the heart of the Maremma).
- La Scheggiolla (Chianti Classico, boutique winery)
- Col D’Orcia (Sangiovese;I supertoscane)
- Enoteca del Castello di Broli (lunch and tasting in the birthplace of Chianti Classico)
- Villa Forre 563 (unique tasting at the guesthouse where we stayed)
- Tenuta Cocci Grifone (fine dining and wine tasting)
- Crama Ciu Ciu Offida (Pecorino, Passerina)
- Collefrisio Winery (Montepulciano dAbruzzo, pride of the Marque region)
2. Visiting fairytale towns: Montalcino, San Gimignano (Gelateria Dondoli), Perugia, Offida, Ascoli Piceno, Assissi, Ortona(DaMario’s fish restaurant), Sienna, Chieti, Sulmona and of course Florence (exceptional lunch with Bistecca Fiorentina at Trattoria dall’Oste).
3. Relax and socialize. We spent unforgettable evenings in rustic villas set in the heart of the vineyards, enjoying beautiful scenery and traditional Italian dinners.
We can not conclude without thanking Brother Sebastian Bobu, the Bucovina Legate’s paharnic, who took his role seriously and organized this visit perfectly.
