…Let’s do a bit of statistics using affective memory:
-Bucha Victoriei – Dacia Boulevard – Romana Square – Aula Magna of the University of Bucharest, by a kilometer-long column of the Wine Knights and their friends, on the background of festive brass band music and with the help of the Gendarmerie and the Traffic Police (who enthusiastically accepted to block for new sections of some of the main arteries of the Capital)
-280 personalities for whom IHDV and “Amicitia per Vinum” sounds sweeter than a liqueur of Sauternes or Tokaji (…even if these two were drunk by the Eiswein Traminer Roz from the dessert of the festive banquet), among the personalities who responded to the invitation of the first Romanian Vice-Consul were four leaders of National Consulates, along with 26 local dignitaries
-“Angels on Horseback”, “goji chutney”, “maki with hoisin sauce”, “umaki”, “wakame”, “tobiko”, “foie gras”, “passion fruit”, among many other delights from a fabulous and cosmopolitan menu (…let’s count appetites from 1 to 11!), whose oenological counterpart meant a double pairing with local wines of each culinary service
-effective mockery of the torrential rain (140 liters per square meter) that threatened to cause a biblical flood at the House of Vlăsia, where Noah’s Ark was, in fact, Dionysus’
-rare catwalk sensations offered by the models of Hospitei Adina Buzatu, among which insinuated, as in a funny self-deprecating video, an Eques de Vino, who rose to the height of his stage partners, being applauded openly
– a musical journey that began on Friday with a respectable comănac and continued on Saturday with the brilliant Adina Sima, her guests and students, including the fantastic Diana Stănciuleasa as Kate Bush at 16 (!)
-the cavalcade of beautiful women and elegant gentlemen in a cavalcade that would have deserved to be chronicled by a society chronicler of the stature of Mișu Văcărescu-Claymoor
Et caetera. Ș.a.m.d. Excipiens q.s.
…And, if all this – plus many other details of electrifying atmosphere – were to be recalled, they were called simply, but with a well-deserved pride, the 2025 edition of the Knightly Festival of Romanian Wine!
