On August 26–27,August 26–27, 2026, at the Via Domnului Winery, the Ploiești Knightly Chapter of the Romanian Consulate of the European Order of Wine Knights organized the pilot edition of a wine competition featuring wines made from Romanian grape varieties grown in the Dealu Mare vineyard.
Twenty-two wineries participated, submitting 51 wines to the competition in the white, rosé, and red categories.
I don’t think we need to further highlight the quality of the wines produced in Dealu Mare, as they are universally recognized both nationally and internationally.
I would, however, like to highlight the producers’ interest in organizing this competition, with a view to supporting the promotion of wines made from Romanian grape varieties at the national and European levels, through the competition’s organizer, the Romanian Consulate of the OEVE.
The finalists in the Muntenia Regional Round of the Romanian Grape Varieties Wine Competition were:
- White Wines:
– Romanian Tămâioasă – sweet, SCDVV Pietroasele
– Romanian Tămâioasă – dry, SCDVV Pietroasele
– Fetească Regală – semi-dry, Crama Bolgiu
- Rosé wines:
– Busuioacă Bohotin – dry, SCDVV Pietroasele
– Fetească Negară – dry, Via Domnului Winery
– Feteasca Negră – dry, Stenota Winery
- Red wines:
– Negru de Dragășani – dry, Metamorfosis Winery
– Fetească Negară – dry, Metamorfosis Winery
– Fetească Negră – dry, LaCerta Winery
We are looking forward to the final “Tournament,” where the most highly rated wines will be awarded the winners’ crest.
