KNIGHTLY FESTIVAL OF ROMANIAN WINE

Location: Craiova

The Romanian Wine Knight Festival (FCVR) started in 2019, with the establishment of the National Day of Romanian Wine and Gastronomy, as an event circumscribed to this important celebration, with the main objective of promoting the local wine and food culture as part of our national identity.

In Oltenia, vine growing and wine production are traditional occupations. The subcarpathian hills and foothills benefit from plenty of warmth and light, favouring rich, high-quality harvests. In this wine-growing region, mainly local varieties are cultivated: Fetească Neagră, Fetească Regală, Neagră de Dragașani, Novac, Tămâioasă Românească and Crâmpoșie, which accompany the famous Oltene cuisine.

16:00 – 16:30 Transfer by coach on the route Ramada Plaza by Windham Hotel – Banu Mărăcine Educational Resort
16:30 – 17:30 Visit of the Banu Maracine Didactic Station, with wine tasting
17:30 – 18:30 Proclamation of the Harvest Festival and declaration of the Knights’ Wine 2024, followed by the ritual crushing of the grapes by young girls
18:30 – 19:00 Transfer by coach to Smart Pub, Preajba Lake Complex
19:00 – 23:00 Traditional Oltenian dinner with artistic program
23:00 – 23:20 Transfer by coach on the route Smart Pub – Hotel Ramada Plaza by Windham Craiova

15:00 – 15:15 Preparation for the knightly ceremony
15:15 – 16:15 Knightly ceremony of accreditation and investiture
16:15 – 16:30 End of ceremony, group photo
16:30 – 17:00 Parade of knights on the route University of Craiova – Alexandru Ioan Cuza Street – Calea Unirii – Ramada Plaza Hotel, accompanied by the Military Band
